As the holiday season approaches, communities worldwide are gearing up for a special day that goes beyond shopping deals and festive preparations. It's a day that celebrates generosity, kindness, and the power of giving back. Since 2012, the GivingTuesday movement has inspired millions of people to give, collaborate, and make a positive impact. This year, the Israel Magen Fund of Canada (IMFoC.org) is participating in GivingTuesday, inviting Canadians to be part of this global generosity movement and support impactful projects that benefit vulnerable communities.
GivingTuesday started as a simple idea—a single day dedicated to encouraging people to do good. Following the consumer-heavy events of Black Friday and Cyber Monday, GivingTuesday offers a chance to refocus on what matters most: helping others and making a positive impact in the world. From its origins in the United States, this movement has expanded globally, now active in over 80 countries. In Canada, GivingTuesday was launched in 2013 through the collaboration of CanadaHelps.org, GIV3, and other founding partners, becoming a day when Canadians come together to make a difference in their communities.
On this day, individuals, organizations, and communities unite to support causes that align with their values. Whether through donations, volunteerism, or acts of kindness, GivingTuesday encourages people from all walks of life to participate and build a world where generosity is an everyday practice.
Why Should You Get Involved?
Supporting GivingTuesday is a meaningful way to contribute to the betterment of society. By participating, you join a global network of people and organizations who are committed to improving lives and addressing critical needs in their communities. It's not just about giving money—it's about showing up for your community in any way you can. Acts of generosity, no matter how small, have a ripple effect that can transform lives and uplift entire communities.
In Canada, GivingTuesday has grown into a significant event. It's a day when Canadians unite to support local charities, volunteer, and give back in ways that strengthen their communities. Organizations like the Israel Magen Fund of Canada (IMFoC) use GivingTuesday as an opportunity to connect with their communities and raise awareness about their vital work.
CanadaHelps.org, a key partner in Canada's GivingTuesday movement, makes it easy for Canadians to support registered charities across the country, like Israel Magen Fund of Canada, offering secure and streamlined ways to donate online. The collaborative spirit of GivingTuesday Canada inspires individuals and groups to give in whatever way they can, be it a donation, volunteer time, or even sharing stories and experiences on social media to inspire others.
Supporting the Junior Board Members on GivingTuesday
This GivingTuesdayCA, the Israel Magen Fund of Canada, is spotlighting an initiative led by our IMFoC Junior Board members. This year, we're focusing on raising funds for our ZAKA Search & Rescue project. Guided by Grade 7 and 8 students from Robbins Hebrew Academy, this effort aims to raise funds to donate a scooter to ZAKA in Israel. Our goal is to reach $55,000 by the first night of Chanukah on December 25.
Please consider supporting our campaign—every contribution makes a difference, and we are deeply grateful for your generosity!
ZAKA Search & Rescue Vehicle Fundraising Drive
ZAKA is a volunteer-led organization dedicated to search and rescue operations in some of Israel's most challenging and dangerous situations. This GivingTuesday, we're raising funds for ZAKA's essential rescue vehicles, which enable rapid response to emergencies and life-saving rescues. Join us in supporting ZAKA's mission to honour lives, offering hope and aid when it's needed most.
This GivingTuesday, Let's Make a Difference Together
As GivingTuesday arrives this year, let's take a moment to recognize the power of collective generosity. When we come together to give, we create a stronger, more resilient world where everyone can thrive.
